The Explorer of the Seas ADCP data set is produced by the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, with support from SEACOOS and NOAA. Data is processed and provided by Lisa Beal, Liz Williams, and Warner Baringer
There are two separate data sets: those data prior to the installation of a 3-D GPS and those data from May 12, 2006 onward with the additional heading corrections utilizing the onboard 3-D GPS Thales ADU5. These latter data have a smaller associated error velocity. After May 2006, all cruises have heading corrections applied where there are ADU5 data available for that cruise. Cruises where the ADU5 data were not available fall back to the previous processing method of using a fixed gyro correction which was derived from previous cruises which had bottom tracking.
ADCP current velocity data are available as matlab files of structured
arrays, named "adp".
Each array contains:
u = eastward ocean velocity (cm/s)
v = northward velocity (cm/s)
lon = longitude (decimal degrees)
lat = latitude (decimal degrees)
tday = time in decimal day of the year (Jan 1st is day zero)
depth = depth (m)
some .zip files are available by year in each directory
